Pigments! Ive mixed my own egg tempera before, but the pigment Ive always used has been other people’s stashes. Part of the reason I have never bought my own is a can’t decide on a maker to trust. (Also because they are expensive!)I’ve been looking at the Sinopia Pigments.
Parchment! I’ve worked on parchment before. I think calfskin. Being one of the more expensive supplies, it has been a LONG time since I thought about working with it again. Brenda suggested Pergamena. I may have to order a sample book soon.
Armenian bole! I have a huge tub of this already, but black. I love the way the reds make the gold look so much more. It is used as a base for gilding and depending on the color can change the luster of the gold.
Miniatum! I ran out of this and REALLY want some more. This is used for mirror gloss gilding on paper. After the gold is applied it has a mirror finish, plus it beads really well and looks really nice as small accents. I would also like to try gold miniatum ink.
There is WAY more things but these are the only few I have time to post about now. More later perhaps.
Hey Becca,
I am going to go with this company for the pigments. I also LOVE how much info they give on the matter. http://www.earthpigments.com/index.cfm
So if you try the other- we could compare quality vs price.
