Nap Time

It’s been a rough couple of weeks. Crevan Riddle Wigglebottom is here. He is sweet and adorable, and we have had the hardest time adjusting. The feelings and thoughts we’ve had about him and our situation have surprised the both of us. We knew it would be hard and take time for adjustments, but we didn’t know how emotional we would get. For the first week it was almost impossible to enjoy him. We were constantly filled with guilt and uncertainty. ‘He is so bored and lonely. We can’t stay home all day with him, and he has no other dogs to play with.’ It was also hard because it took him awhile to adjust. From just having surgery and being separated from his 10 siblings, he wasn’t having a wonderful time either. Nights in the cage were spent howling and crying. We tried EVERYTHING to make him OK. Earplugs were a must for any sleep at all. If he peed on the floor, jumped over the gate, or flipped out all night long, it felt like we failed and he would be traumatized for life. He is just a puppy, and there are so many people who get puppies and who have full time jobs and lives. He will be ok.
*Sigh of relief*
The past few days have been incredibly better. Crevan’s bladder capacity is increasing, and he sleeps throughout the night with no crying!!!! I can’t say the same for the times when we are gone during the day, but he still doesn’t like to be alone. I can’t wait for the day when he doesn’t have to be crated. I feel horrible keeping him in there. Friday night when we were getting ready for bed, he walked into his cage on his own and went to sleep. I could have cried from happiness! He is probably the cutest puppy ever.

Soooo… I need to start getting in shape again. I was doing so well last summer, but I have higher goals this year so I need to get off my bum. There are certain things I want to get that will help, like a new pair of running shoes, but I’ve told myself I can’t until I’m committed again. Reading blogs that inspire me to run have been helping. Lately I’ve liked The Hungry Runner Girl. Maybe its her obsession with skittles that inspires me.
Thanks to Dad I have a spinner for my bike. It’s very noisy and I’ve never been a huge stationary biker, but since I haven’t been able to motivate myself to get out in the cold and run, its a good start.

Crevan didn’t seem to mind the noise.

On to food. *YAY* Seth made ‘chili’ yesterday. Or as I call it, taco soup. Delicious!

He also brought me breakfast in bed last weekend. Toast, orange, coffee with creamer from my dinosaur, and Kashi cereal with dried marshmallows. Oh, and also a puppy and two kittens. It was a full bed. Of course, I spilled creamer. Then Crevan slept with his head in it and smelled like vanilla creamer for the rest of the day. Bonus.

Oh yeah, we bought a roof rack for the car. Sweet. Hurry up warm weather, I want to go kayaking.
(And Matt, we are looking at reviews and pricing tents, sleeping bags, and packs!!!!!)

A Booge Tale

On a lovely day in March, there was a Booge named Rowan. Rowan the booge was delighted by the first wonderful spring-like day of the year. So much so, that she decided to open the windows, let the fresh air rustler her fur, and lay on her favorite down comforter. Soon Rowan was deep asleep with her fur warming in the sun. Little did Rowan know, fresh air is not the only thing that was let in through the open windows. Swiftly and quietly a strange creature entered the room. “What is this?” the creature mused to itself. Interested, the creature snuck closer to the sleeping Booge.

With a flick of the tail, Rowan awoke. In the second it takes to travel from sleep to awake, the creature had stole out the window. A small shiver felt by Rowan was the only sign left behind. Looking around, Rowan saw nothing, and quickly fell back asleep. In such a warm comfortable bed it would have been hard not to.

On the window sill reapeared the creature, but this time he brought a fellow wispy friend. “You must investigate the weezy, slowling falling and rising pile of orange on the cushion,” said the first creature to the other. At that, the second creature glided closer. Slowly…slowly…carefully, the creature drew near. Inhaling deaply he stated, “such a wonderful aroma, I do think this may be rather tasty!”

The first creature’s interest was even more aroused by this observation and joined the second creature smelling and slightly drooling over Rowan. Both creatures appetites grew as they inhaled even more greatly, occasionally sucking in a tasty piece of fur floating in the spring breeze. Before long, they where inches from the Booge, her fur tickling their noses,

when suddlenly there was an abrubt, crisp and audible “Pppppffffffttttttttttttt.” As Rowan stirred slightly in her sleep the creatures froze. A second later, the creatures noses no longer felt pleased at the smell of what they thought was dinner. What they had not known when deciding to investigate was that thier pray had finished a nice full bowl of all natural salmon flavored kitten kibble bits before laying down for her nap. With stinging noses and dissapointed apettites, the creatures departed back through the open windows into the now setting sun, leaving Rowan the Booge to finish her lovely, warm, spring day nap.

Snow Day

Still snowing! Sethme and I have decided to take the day off and bundle ourselves inside for the day. I knew that I was going to stay home for sanity purposes. The mind numbing monotony and enclosed building I work in during day light hours has taken it’s toll. Sethme however, planned on working. We bundled and headed outside so I could drive him to work, scraped the car, and had a first attempt at backing my little car out of the tiny parking lot. That is when we decided to work from home. Work is for chumps!

I am forcing myself to paint. I need to get past this evil slump of self doubt and inability. Appreciating circumstances and occurrences is also being forced… but paying off.

My amaryllis is blooming!

Also, Muca wanted to say thank you for the gloriously clean cage…

… Christmas cookies & plastic tree needle studded cat poo!

December has been filled with sewing, saw dust, decorating, and curious kitties. Almost all the decorations are up, two of the 3 tables we have been building are built, and a few sewing projects have been completed. On the other hand, my work table is left to be built, there is still saw dust all over the entire studio, and Im not very good at keeping up with the advent calendar.
