Ive opened my Etsy shop!!!! I don’t have everything listed in it yet, but there are a few owls and images already.There are a few more images + some bear hats to add!

I’m hoping to start making some fall things to sell. I guess the bear hats are fall-ish. I have been LOVING the cool mornings around here. Sitting by the river in a hoodie at 7 in the morning is without a doubt the best time of the day.

I made this leaf garland a little while ago, (before it started cooling off outside. I like to think my hope influenced the sudden temperature changes).

Making more ‘crafty’ things had been really fun lately. There is a different sort of satisfaction after I create them. I don’t feel the same pressure as I have when trying to make 2D art. There is other reasons that are more to do with the feel of the material, the seasons, and the emotional, even nostalgic influences, but those aren’t very easily verbally conveyed so I’m not even going to try. I just wish I could find a way to not have to work somewhere 40 hours a week feeling like I am accomplishing nothing. Unfortunately, my most creatively & productive time of day is early morning through mid-day. Working late into the night and then having to get up at 5:45 every morning isn’t something I can do. This 3 day weekend has been great!

I know it must be fall…. I crave pumpkin spice lattes and have the uncontrollable urge to bake!

This is what I need. I know it is a horrible thing to say right after getting married, but it isn’t like it sounds. I can’t separate myself from everyday things, events, stresses, and distractions. I need to explore, sit, appreciate, think (not about everything I need to do or worry about), and regain perspective. Since I moved back from New York, I have kept getting farther and farther away from any kind of introspective thought, and have lost my curiosity and appreciation of things that used to be important. My concerns have moved to material things like home, work, and trying to find a purpose among all the clutter. I feel like a majority of my life is spent going through motions that mean nothing to me. I want to put my energy into something important, and not work that I don’t care about. Many great things have happened in this span of time that I am grateful for, but there has defiantly been things lost. I have no idea how to go about living, and thinking how I would like. The drastic changes I need to make seem daunting and very overwhelming.

I would love to do one of these.

Today’s theme: underwater creatures?

As usual, I found myself sitting in my “death room” as Seth calls it, trying to come up with intriguing ideas/things to sketch. Thankfully, I was talking to Amy on IM and she assigned me a theme for today’s sketching session; underwater creatures. Not usually a topic of my creative endeavors, but oh well. I could take a few minutes to humor the idea. Here you are Amy, one of many majestic beasts of the deep.

As for my usual work/subjects, I started this last night.

Both of these are only 4 1/2 by 4 1/2. It seems to be the only size I’m comfortable with as the moment. They don’t need a plan when I start them. If I start larger I tend to over think everything and they end up being less interesting, or unfinished.

Also, in the realm of sewing I altered a dress/smock thingy i got from a second hand store. It almost fits perfectly. There is a little bunching in the front if I don’t stand up straight. Other than that I am very happy with it. Nice for the summer, and is no fuss to wear (other than having to keep good posture.)

We have our marriage license. Craziness! I can’t believe they are going to let us amalgamate our absurdity *mwaaahaaha*

Other good news… my cappuccino machine is working again. This helps minimize the insanity.

I have been trying to convince myself that I need to start ‘a drawing a day’ but Ive only been able to accomplish ‘a drawing every once and awhile.’ This Tuesday drawing was rather quick and was easier to accomplish than the squirrel. My attention span isn’t what it should be. My aid for Sunday’s drawing was beer. My aid for today’s drawing was working out extra hard on Monday, leaving me tired and not wanting to move around at all.

Also, more good news. Jean is coming up a day early next weekend to celebrate the wedding. SUPER excited!

Sunday Drawing

Been thinking of squirrel designs for wedding invitations. So I decided to draw a squirrel to start myself sketching again. I might as well stick to whats on my mind. This was drawn with just a #2 BIC mechanical pencil. Very handy tool! With the aid of a couple Summer Shandy Leinenkugel’s I was able to sit still and concentrate long enough to get it drawn.
